Aqua-Cure Concrete Sealer

WATER-BASED CONCRETE CURING COMPOUND AND SEALER

Aqua-Cure is the industry standard water-based acrylic concrete "cure and seal". It's low viscosity, UV resistance, low odor and easy spraying characteristics make this a contractor favorite. Aqua Cure's self-cross-linking formula allows it to offer excellent durability along with excellent resistance to efflorescence and alkali. Aqua-Cure produces a low level of enhancement for a natural appearance.

Aqua Cure forms a durable, moisture retentive film on freshly placed concrete surfaces, slowing evaporation and allowing the concrete to properly cure. The durable acrylic film then continues to protect the concrete during and after construction. Aqua Cure is non-yellowing and meets ASTM C-309 specifications.

Aqua Cure is also a great water-based concrete sealant for fully cured or existing concrete. Aqua Cure offers easy application and excellent protection on both broom-swept and exposed aggregate applications such as driveways, patios, sidewalks and pool decks. It can even be tinted with our Aqua-Packs if desired!

Aqua Cure is available in multiple versions to allow you to choose the solids ratio that is right for your specific project. The higher the solids, the thicker the film and higher the gloss. The lower the solids, the thinner the film and lower the gloss.

Surfkoat Aqua Cure

You can't go wrong with Aqua-Cure if you're looking for an easy to apply sealer. It is designed to be used on fresh "wet" concrete, fully cured concrete or anything in between. This means problems from moisture are almost non-existent with this sealer.

Color Tint For SealerAquaPack Color System:

Aqua-Cure can be used clear, or tinted with color from our AquaPack Color System. AquaPacks are available in 6 neutral colors. Colors can also be mixed to create endless combinations. Average color loading for a semi-transparent color is approximately 1 oz. of color / gallon of sealer. Simply add less pigment to achieve a more translucent color. For lighter colors it may take more and darker colors may take less depending on the application. Do not add too much color! Over pigmenting may cause color float or streaking. Especially in the darker colors! Do not allow product to puddle during application! Apply tinted sealer by sprayer only. Rollers will leave streaks and marks in the color.

Cleaning and Preparation Instructions

Concrete surface must be clean and free of all contaminants and water. Do not apply if rain is forecast within 24 hours. If moisture is present or if the surface is not clean and free of all contaminants, the sealer may have white spots and have premature delamination and failure. May be applied when damp (not wet) to freshly placed concrete surfaces as a curing compound. Horizontal surfaces must be finished and show no sheen from bleed water.

Application Instructions

Aqua Cure may be applied using a roller or industrial concrete sprayer.

For textured surfaces, use a 3/8" - 3/4" . For smooth surfaces or interior floors, use and a . Do not allow to Puddle! Thick or puddled areas may prevent the solvent from evaporating and may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which may cause milky white spots. Applying too thin may cause sealer to prematurely delaminate, flake or wear away. Allow sealer to dry for 24 hours for light traffic and at least 48 hours for heavy traffic. If applying two coats, wait approximately 4-6 hours between coats.

On freshly placed concrete: APPLY ONE COAT ONLY

Make sure all sprinklers are turned off for a 24 hour period of time. Apply Aqua Cure only if rain is not expected for at least 24 hours. Do not apply Aqua Cure if surface temperature is below 40° F., or above 80° F. If possible always apply as concrete is cooling, rather than as concrete is warming. Warming by the sun causes the air inside the concrete to expand and push out through the surface, often causing bubbles in the still wet sealer.

SLIP RESISTANCE: may be used for additional slip resistance. Follow mixing instructions and do not overload system. All non-skid additives may shorten the life of the film to some degree.

CLEAN UP: Clean up tools with soap and water. Of course, having the right tools will make your job easier, so scroll to the bottom to see our recommended Sprayers, Rollers and Application Tools!

Coverage Rates

Coverage rates are approximate and will vary depending on substrate density, porosity, temperature, application method and desired appearance.

PLEASE NOTE: When using as a curing compound, apply only one coat at a rate of 250-350 sq. ft. / gallon to meet specifications. Extreme bubbling and/or hazing may occur due to lack of permeability.

Freshly placed concrete: ONE COAT ONLY - 250-350 sq. ft. / gallon
Cured broom-swept concrete: 150-200 sq. ft. / gallon
Cured exposed aggregate concrete: 125-175 sq. ft. / gallon

Maintenance

Like all things, maintaining optimal protection of a sealed surface requires scheduled maintenance. Once properly applied, surfaces sealed with Aqua Cure may periodically require a light cleaning to remove dirt, dust, mud, etc. In most cases, low pressure water is all that is needed for routine cleaning. Do not use a hot-water pressure washer unless you are preparing to apply a maintenance coat of Aqua Cure. Re-seal surface every two years or as needed to prevent buildup of sealer.
